Carseat Afghan

I wanted to practice my crochet stitches, so I decided to make E a carseat afghan.  I'm really pleased with how it turned out! This is all done with single and double crochet stitches.

I based the design on Lion Brand Yarn's Stripey Crocheted Throw.  I was using up Knit Picks Brava Worsted yarn that I had left over from previous projects.  I deviated from the color pattern and, half way through, deviated from the stitch pattern because I was not sure I would have enough yarn.

Here is the pattern I came up with (forgive if it is not written in correct "crochet" lingo):

(Pattern after the jump)

8mm crochet hook
  • Foundation chain of 71 Color A
  • Row 1: Single crochet into 2nd stitch with Color A; chain 3
    • Every subsequent row will have 70 stitches
  • Row 2: Double crochet Color A; chain 3
  • Row 3: Double Crochet Color B; chain 3
  • Row 4 and 5: Double Crochet Color C; chain 3
  • Row 6: Double Crochet Color D; chain 3
  • Row 7, 8,  & 9: Double Crochet Color E; chain 3
  • Row 10: Double Crochet Color F; chain 3
  • Row 11, 12 & 13: Double Crochet Color C; chain 3
  • Row 14 & 15: Double Crochet Color D; chain 1
  • Row16: Single Crochet Color E; chain 3
  • Row 17: Double Crochet Color F; chain 1
  • Row 18: Single Crochet Color E; chain 3
  • Row 19 & 20: Double Crochet Color C; chain 3
  • Row 21 & 22: Double Crochet Color A; chain 3
  • Row 23 & 24: Double Crochet Color D; chain 1
  • Row 25: Single Crochet Color B; chain 3
  • Row 26: Double Crochet Color F; chain 3
  • Row 27, 28, 29 & 30: Double Crochet Color E; chain 3
  • Row 31: Double Crochet Color D; chain 3
  • Row 32, 33 & 34: Double Crochet Color C; chain 3
  • Row 35: Double Crochet color B; chain 3
  • Row 36: Double Crochet Color A; chain 1
  • Row 37 Single Crochet Color A; fasten off
Edging: 2 Rows Single Crochet Color F, 3 Single Crochet at each corner (still working on my edging skills).

I love the colors...the above picture is a more accurate color photo than the ones in the beginning of the post.  I love this yarn also!

Can you tell I love fall colors?

Hope the pattern is helpful and/or inspires you to make something new!
